BATTLE STAR GALACTICA [MOVIE] 1980
SAGA OF A STARWORLD-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdate: September 17, 1978
Three-hour pilot
"There are those who believe... that life here... began out there. Far across the universe. With tribes of humans... who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians... or the Toltecs... or the Mayans... that they may have been the architects of the Great Pyramids... or the lost civilizations of Lemuria... or Atlantis... Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man... who even now fight to survive... somewhere beyond the heavens..."
In a galaxy far away, the leaders of the twelve Colonies of man have gathered for a peace conference with the robotic warrior race, the Cylons. After a thousand yahrens (years) of war, the Cylons have sued for peace. Adama, commander of the battlestar Galactica, doubts that the Cylons truly want peace. As the twelve battlestars wait to meet the Cylons, Captain Apollo and his younger brother, Lt. Zac, are on patrol. They come upon two Cylon fuel tankers. Seconds later, they discover thousands of Cylon Raiders and are attacked. The two warriors realize that the peace envoy is a trap and the Cylons plan to destroy the Colonies. As they speed back to warn the fleet, Zac's viper is damaged and Apollo is forced to leave him behind. The Galactica scans the incoming Cylon fighters, but President Adar heeds the advice of Baltar, who engineered the peace conference, and refuses to bring the fleet to alert, fearing that a show of force will jeopardize the mission. Adama orders a battle stations drill for the Galactica. Meanwhile, Zac's viper is destroyed by the Cylons. The battle begins and the Galactica is the only battlestar to lauch all its fighters in time, resulting in the Colonials being hopelessly outnumbered. Baltar, who has betrayed his own race for the promise of power, escapes the Atlantia not long before the battlestar is destroyed. As the fleet is engaged, Cylon basestars decimate the twelve planets of man. The Galactica withdraws the battle and heads toward its home planet of Caprica, but it is too late to save it. The rest of the fleet is totally destroyed. Adama and Apollo go to the surface to survey the damage of Caprica. The refugees arrive and Adama tells them to head into space at once in whatever spaceships will carry them. A fleet of 220 ships is quickly assembled representing every Colony, color and creed. Adama proposes that they set out to find the legendary lost thirteenth colony of man: the planet Earth.
Shortly afterwards, Starbuck practically proposes to Adama's beautiful daughter Athena, but she refuses, saying that she's afraid to get close to someone who could die at any moment. Eventually, Apollo, Starbuck and Lt. Boomer do a survey of the ships in the fleet for damage and Apollo gets to know the beautiful former newscaster Serina and her young son, Boxey. The boy is almost catatonic because his pet daggit (dog), Muffit, was killed during the Cylon attack on Caprica. Meanwhile, Starbuck meets Cassiopea, a beautfiul former socialator (similar to a hooker) with a broken arm. They are instantly attracted and Starbuck takes her to the Galactica to treat her broken arm. Later, the warriors discover that most of the food that was brought along for the voyage was contaminated by pluton radiation during the bombing and is inedible. Finding food has suddenly become the fleet's most vital concern.
The Cylon Imperious Leader learns that a fleet of survivors has escaped. Baltar is brought before him and is told that he will be shortly executed. Adama proposes to the newly elected Council of Twelve that they should had to the planet Carillon and get the food and tylium (fuel) that they desperately need. Their only obstacle is a Cylon minefield that blocks the way to the planet. Apollo, Starbuck, and Boomer fly through the minefield in their vipers and lead the fleet safely to Carillon. As the warriors search the planet for fuel, they are stunned to find a gambling resort packed with people who are completely unaware of the destruction of the Colonies. The resort is run by the Ovions, an insectoid race who have plenty of food and tylium and are happy to share. When word of the resort reaches the fleet, the refugees scramble to the surface. They are unaware that the Ovions have lured them to the resort to be turned into food. The Council of Twelve stupidly lean towards settling on Carillon and destroying all their weapons, believing that the Cylons will leave them alone if they stay out of their way. They order a celebration on Carillon and order all of the fleet's warriors to attend. It is there the Council will propose destroying their weapons.
As everyone celebrates their good fortune at the party, the Cylons are revealed to be working with the Ovions. Starbuck and Apollo discover this and chaos erupts, causing Carillon's volatile tylium to be ignited during the fray. The Imperious Leader's Cylon basestar, hidden behind Carillon, launches its fighters against the Galactica. Apollo, Starbuck, and Boomer help the Colonials escape from the Ovions. They soon learn that Adama anticipated the Ovions' treachery and, unbeknownst to the Council, had all of his fighters docked on Carillon and ordered all of the other warriors to skip the party. Cylon Raiders attack the fleet, believing to have caught the Galactica by surprise. The Colonial Vipers launch and attack, and the Cylons turn out to be the ones caught by surpise. After routing the Cylons, Starbuck and Apollo go after the Cylon basestar behind Carillon. The warriors use a special frequency to trick the basestar into believing that several squadrons are closing in, even though in reality there are only two fighters. Despite the dangerous, volatile fires erupting all over Carillon, Imperious Leader orders the basestar to be brought down to the planet's surface in order to hide. Apollo and Starbuck find the basestar, which fires its lasers at them, striking the planet's surface and quickly escalating the exploding tylium. Starbuck and Apollo quickly retreat into space and the entire planet of Carillon explodes, destroying the Imperious Leader and the Cylon basestar with it. Starbuck and Apollo return to the Galactica. The journey to Earth continues. "Fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, the last battlestar, Galactica, leads a ragtag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest... a shining planet known as Earth." Far away on a Cylon basestar, Baltar is brought before the new Imperious Leader and is told to go in search of the humans to deliver a message of peace. The Leader says that the philosophy of the Cylons has changed and that he is willing to spare the remaining humans. Baltar is then introduced to his new aide, an IL series Cylon named Lucifer.

Adama, Serina, Starbuck, Athena, Apollo, and Boxey are having dinner in the Commander's quarters. Apollo and Serina announce that they will be married, and everyone is ecstatic. Later, Boomer and Jolly land on a remote asteroid that turns out to be a Cylon outpost. Starbuck and Apollo are also out on patrol. On a Cylon basestar far way, the new Imperious Leader gives Baltar is own basestar and is ordered to find humans. An IL series Cylon named Lucifer will be his aide.
Starbuck and Apollo discover a seemingly endless magnetic void. Apollo impulsively heads into the void and quickly becomes lost. Starbuck heads in after him and is able to lead him out. On the Galactica, the viper pilots are preparing to throw Apollo a bachelor party. Baltar is alerted to Boomer and Jolly's presence and he has them followed back to the Galactica. Boomer and Jolly return to the Galactica, and Boomer foolishly skips decontamination so as not to miss Apollo's party. Boomer faints at the celebration Jolly passes out at the Life Center. Before Apollo and Starbuck arrive at the party, Dr. Salik quarantines everyone in the room.
Apollo learns from Serina that she has been in training to be a shuttle pilot. Apollo is shocked, not wanting her to be in the military. Meanwhile, a disease is spread among all the viper pilots. Adama orders that the shuttle pilot cadets (all women) be made combat ready as quickly as possible so the Galactica has some means of defense against the Cylons. An incredibly short time later, the female squadron, led by Starbuck and Apollo, escorts Dr. Salik and his medical staff back to the asteroid to discover the cause of the disease. The squadron manages to destroy the Cylon outpost without suffering any casualties and the medical staff is free to do their research. Adama then baffles everyone by ordering the fleet to head into the magnetic void. He believes the void will lead them to the planet Kobol, where human life began.
Baltar's Cylon basestar finds the Galactica, but remains behind at a distance. Baltar believes his current number of Cylon raiders are insufficient to defeat the Galactica, unaware that the viper pilots are incapacitated, so he devises another plan. He orders Lucifer to capture one of the Galactica's patrols. The basestar gets a little too close and briefly appears on the Galactica's scanners. Starbuck, Apollo, and Serina take off to investigate. Starbuck flies too far ahead of them and is suddenly surround by an entire fleet of Cylon raiders. He is captured and brought before Baltar, who tells him that the Cylons want peace.
Apollo mourns the apparent death of Starbuck and Serina suggests that they be married now while they still have time left. Just as Adama pronounces them sealed, a star is seen in the heavens, signaling the end of the void. The Galacticans land on Kobol and explore the ruins of one of the larger cities. Adama, Apollo, and Serina enter the tomb of the ninth Lord of Kobol to search for clues to where Earth is located. Upon reaching the center of the tomb, they are greeted by Baltar, which sends Adama into a rage. Baltar feigns surprise when Adama accuses him of betraying the human race to the Cylons.
Starbuck appears at the campsite and tells everyone that a Cylon basestar is coming. Apollo tells everyone to begin evacauation. Lucifer, on the Cylon basestar, believes that Baltar's plan has failed. Against orders, he launches an attack on Kobol. A laser blast causes a pillar to fall and crush Baltar's legs, also destroying the ancient writings that reveal the location of Earth. The female viper squadron scrambles to fight off the Cylons, but is hopelessly outnumbered. On the Galactica, the viper pilots finally recover and launch a counter-attack, routing the Cylons. In the commotion to leave Kobol, a Cylon Centurion steps from the shadows and blasts Serina. She is taken to the Galactica and made comfortable. After a sad goodbye to Apollo and Boxey, she dies. As everyone looks on, Apollo and Boxey hold hands and quietly walk off.
THE LOST WARRIOR-Written by Donald P. Bellisario/Original Airdate: October 8, 1978
Apollo is being attacked by four Cylon raiders. He sends a call for help to the Galactica. On the Galactica bridge, Starbuck and Boomer implore Adama to let them go after Apollo, but Adama says the transmission Apollo is sending is meant to lead the Cylons away from the fleet. Apollo manages to destroy one of the Cylon raiders, and the other three take off in the direction he was leading them, hoping to find the Colonial fleet.
Apollo suddenly finds himself low on fuel and has to land on a planet named Equellus. He lands his viper on a farm and meets a young boy named Puppis and his mother, Bella, who are not used to seeing spaceships. They hide him in their house and a Cylon named Red Eye comes by. They get him to leave, and Apollo is confused to learn that a Cylon takes orders from a human named LeCerta. Together, the two extort money from the town. Bella then tells himt that her husband, Martin, was a colonial warrior who was killed by Red Eye. Believing there must be more Cylons nearby, Apollo refuses to kill Red Eye. He goes into town, dressed as a local, and gets LeCerta's attention, but no information as to how LeCerta found Red Eye. When Apollo returns to the farm, he learns that Bootees, Bella's brother, has gone to town to kill Red Eye. When Apollo and the others arrive in town, they find that Red-Eye has murdered Bootees. Apollo then learns from one of LeCerta's servants that a Cylon raider crashed long ago, and Red Eye was damaged, so he followed LeCerta, the first human he encountered. Apollo gets his laser gun and has a showndown with Red Eye, destroying him. Apollo is able to get fuel from Martin's crashed viper, and he takes off to find Starbuck and Boomer looking for him.
THE LONG PATROL-Written by Donald P. Bellisario/Original Airdate: October 15, 1978
The Colonial fleet is entering a new galaxy. Starbuck has volunteered for a special scout mission to see what is ahead of the fleet. For the moment, he is on the Rising Star having dinner in a private quarters with Cassiopea. She leaves for a moment and Athena enters, believing him to be alone. Starbuck gets another room for him and Athena. He suddenly is recalled to the Galactica for his mission, and he says farewell to both. After he leaves, the two women run into each other, and they realize what he has done to them.
Starbuck launches in a viper with extra powerful turbos, allowing him to outrun any ship he runs into. The only disadvantage is that the lasers had to be removed for the speed enhancements. Starbuck soon discovers there is a computer companion in the viper named C.O.R.A which can fly the viper for him if necessary. They then find an unarmed freighter being fired on by a fighter. Starbuck used his turbos to blind the fighter, and the freighter escapes, landing on a moon. Starbuck follow it and lands. The man in the freighter is Robber, a bootlegger with ages-old ambrosia on his ship. When Starbuck turns his back, Robber knocks him out and takes off in his viper. He starts to transmit a signal, which is picked up the Galactica. No one on the Galactica can figure out what the signal is, but the Cylons also pick up the signal and send fighters to investigate its source. Colonel Tigh points out that the signal will lead the Cylons to the fleet, therefore they must assume Starbuck is dead and his viper must be destroyed. Adama reluctantly agrees, and Apollo and Boomer are sent to carry out the task.
After coming to, Starbuck is forced to fly Robber's freighter, but after getting into orbit he quickly runs into the fighter again, manned by Croad. Starbuck is forced to surrender and flies back with Croad to a penal colony on an asteroid. Athena tells Cassiopea that Starbuck is probably dead. Cassiopea is distraught, but then sees the signal being transmitted: it is a request for the coordinates to the planet Ares of the original twelve worlds. Adama calls off the destruct order just as Apollo and Boomer are about to destroy Starbuck's viper. Robber lands the viper and, after a brief shootout with them, surrenders. He explains that he took Starbuck's viper because he wanted to help his family escape from the Enforcers' asteroid prison.
Croad refuses to believe that Starbuck isn't Robber, and he is locked up in jail with the other inmates. Starbuck learns to his horror that the people there aren't criminals. They are locked up for crimes committed by their ancestors. He convinces them to rebel and they conquer the Enforcers just as Apollo, Boomer, and Robber arrive. Three Cylon raiders also discover the asteroid and the warriors manage to destroy them. Unfortunately, a Cylon raider crashes into the colony and destroys its supply of age-old ambrosia. The warriors and the inmates soon find their way back to the Galactica. At a dinner celebration, Boxey shows everyone a map he drew of Earth's galaxy, and Starbuck recognizes it as a map drawing from his prison cell. Robber tells them it was drawn by an old traveler found drifting in space, and Adama says the had told Boxey how to draw the star system taht contained Earth. They all silently wonder if the traveler may have been from Earth.
THE GUN ON ICE PLANET ZERO-Written by Leslie Stevens, Michael Sloan, and Donald P. Bellisario/Original Airdates: October 22 and 29, 1978
Adama suspects that recent Cylon attacks on the Colonial fleet have been meant to lure them to the "safe passage" they've reached. Starbuck's patrol investigates an ice planet, only to be ambushed by a powerful Cylon pulsar cannon on the surface of the planet. Two ships are destroyed, and a third, manned by Cadet Cree, is captured. Adama realizes that a single shot from the pulsar would destroy the Galactica, so he decides to send a team down to the surface to destroy the weapon. Apollo, Boomer, and convicts from the prison barge are selected for the mission. Starbuck, feeling guilty over Cree's capture, secretly programs the proper credentials into his computer file, and thus he is also picked to go.
The team takes a shuttle to the planet, but is attacked by Cylon raiders and crashes. They all get into a landram to travel towards the mountain, and Apollo finds Boxey and Muffit hiding inside. A fight between two of the team members causes the landram to short-circuit, and it loses all power. Muffit takes off to find help, and he manages to find a group of clones called Theta-class lifeforms to take the Colonials in. Apollo learns that the pulsar was created by a human named Ravashal who the Thetas call "The Father Creator." Apollo goes to see Ravashal, but he refuses to accept responsibility for the misuse of the pulsar by the Cylons. Only when Apollo reveals to him that the Thetas are secretly raising children does he agree to help.
Baltar orders all his Cylon raiders to attack the Galactica, even though his current fuel supply is so low that they won't be able to return. He wants to scare them into moving forward. After they quickly disengage, he orders them to attack again. His plan succeeds, and Adama orders the fleet to move forward. While climbing the mountain to reach the pulsar, Wolfe, one of the convicts, tries to kill Apollo so he can escape, but Apollo manages to disarm him. Wolfe runs off. Apollo and Croft set explosive charges to the pulsar weapon. Starbuck frees Cree and takes out the Cylon garrison. Just as the Galactica moves into range, the mountain explodes and the pulsar is destroyed.
THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdate: November 12, 1978
A Cylon attack destroyes two of the fleet's agroships and damages the third, causing it to lose its airlock. The crops are all ruined, and new seed is needed. Fortunately, there is a farm world nearby and Adama proposes they find an old energizer (one without any Colonial markings) to trade for seed. It turns out that there is only one such energizer in the fleet, and it is owned by Siress Bellaby. She makes Adama agree to eventually marry her in exchange for the energizer.
Adama, Apollo, Bellaby, Boomer, Starbuck, Jolly, and Boxey go down to the planet to try to make the trade. In a town called Sectar, the locals have a problem. They are being menaced by a group of animalistic mongrels called the Borays. Their sheriff is killed every time the Borays come to town, and now there are no more volunteers. They desperately need someone to take the job. Starbuck and Boomer ride the energizer into town, but are told that a trade can't happen unless they'd be willing to stay on for awhile. They refuse and leave, but are ambushed by some of the townspeople who steal the energizer. Starbuck goes back into town to find out what happened, and starts gambling in a card game. He wins the pot, but the locals have put the sheriff badge in the pot without telling him what it represents. They then demand that Starbuck stay on as sheriff, and not even Adama and Apollo can convince them otherwise.
The Borays ride into town again, and the Colonials warriors attempt to scare them off. Siress Bellaby is kidnapped, so they go off to save her. When they meet with the Borays, Adama is unable to negotiate with their despicable leader, Nogow. Starbuck gets an idea. He gets Nogow to agree to be sheriff and watch over the town as long as they supply him with all the food and drink he desires. Bellaby tells Adama she doesn't want to marry him anymore because she needs a "a real animal."
THE YOUNG LORDS-Written by Donald P. Bellisario, Frank Lupo, and Paul Playdon/Original Airdate: November 19, 1978
Starbuck and Boomer are ambushed by Cylon raiders. Starbuck's ship is damaged in the battle and he is forced to crash on the planet Attila. There is a Cylon garrison on Attila run by an IL series Cylon named Spectre. He orders a garrison to capture Starbuck, which they easily do because his leg is wounded from the crash. The Cylons are ambushed before they make it back to the base, and Starbuck, before blacking out, sees who his saviors are - Children!
Baltar speaks to Spectre from onboard his Cylon basestar, telling him to find out the location of the Galactica. Starbuck awakens and tells the children that he will take them back to the Galactica when the rescue shuttle comes. On the Galactica, Adama allows Apollo and Boomer to take a shuttle to the planet.
Kyle, the leader of the band, sends a message to the Cylons proposing to trade him for Megan, their captured father. Starbuck eventually learns of the plan, but is forced to go to the trade site at gun point. Spectre refuses to let Megan go, and Kyle realizes he has made a mistake. He relinquishes leadership to Starbuck, who then creates a plan to free their father. Mines are set on the fuel dumps outside the Cylon castle, exploding them. When the Cylons come out to investigate, grenade bombs are slingshoted at them. Starbuck and Miri free Megan, and Spectre realizes he has lost. He still finds a way to make himself look good to Baltar, despite Lucifer's suspicions, and leaves just as the humans completely conquer the base. Apollo and Boomer arrive to take Starbuck back to the Galactica. He says farewell to Miri, Kyle, and the others.
MISSION GALACTICA:THE CYLON ATTACK[The living Legend]-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdates: November 26 and December 3, 1978
Starbuck and Apollo are on patrol and are ambushed by two other Colonial vipers, manned by Lt. Sheba and Lt. Bojay from the Battlestar Pegasus, who mistake them for Cylons. Sheba realizes the two ships are piloted by humans and demands that they surrender. Apollo and Starbuck are shocked to learn that Bojay is alive, who was in their squadron before the Holocaust. They are even more shocked to learn that the Battlestar Pegasus is not destroyed, having believed it perished with the Fifth Fleet in the Battle of Molukai two yahrens ago.
Jolly reports to Adama that the Colonial fleet is almost completely out of fuel. Adama orders the fleet to a complete stop. Starbuck and Apollo land on the Pegasus and meet with the legendary Commander Cain, who tells them that the Cylon empire is about to fall. He also reveals a hologram of his love, Cassiopea, who he hopes might be alive.
The Galactica picks up a battlestar on its scanners. Adama is shocked to receive a transmission from Cain, whom he quickly invites to come aboard. When Cain's shuttle lands, Adama is delighted to see that Starbuck and Apollo are safe. Cain reveals that the Cylons have turned the nearby planet Gomaray into their outer capital, in the process destroying the Delphian empire. He tells Adama he wants to go on the offensive, but Adama insists that they only try to capture a few Cylon tankers to get the fuel they need to escape. Starbuck is uneasy that Cain and Cassiopea once had a relationship. When he tells her about Cain's return, she rushes off to see him. Cain is relieved to find Cassiopea alive. Cassiopea mentions that his daughter, Sheba, will be very unhappy that she has returned. She is correct, as Sheba is angered when she sees Cassiopea with Cain in the officers club, and she leaves.
The Galactica's Blue Squadron and the Pegasus' Silver Spar Squadron each fly out to capture an envoy of Cylon tankers. While Blue Squadron is preocuppied battling Cylon raiders, Cain intentionally destroys the Cylon tankers, wanting to force Adama to launch an attack on Gamoray. Adama is obviously upset that the mission failed, and Apollo is adamant that Blue Squadron had nothing to do with the tankers' destruction. Adama later proposes that, since the Pegasus has a maximum fuel load, half of it be transferred to the fleet so they can resume their voyage. Cain refuses, and Adama tells him that he knows Cain intentionally destroyed the tankers. He then strips Cain of command and gives it to Colonel Tigh.
Baltar has three Cylon basestars at his command. He receives word that the Cylons have located the Colonial fleet. He is sure that victory will be his, and he decides to accompany the Cylon attack force. Sheba, Bojay and other Pegasus warriors block Apollo and Boomer as they attempt to distribute the Pegasus' fuel. Then a red alert is declared as an immense number of Cylon raiders closes in on the Galactica. Adama restores Cain's command and tells him to bring the Pegasus into the battle from the far side. Cain agrees.
The Galactica takes heavy damage from the Cylon attack, and Baltar is delighted until he notices a second battlestar rapidly closing in on his ship. He barely escapes the Pegasus' laser turrets and, realizing how fresh their vipers will be, immediately calls a retreat. Cain and Adama now have no choice but to attack Gamoray. Cain proposes to take the Pegasus to delay the Cylon raiders that will surely come once Gamoray is under attack. Adama is afraid that Cain will pull something, but he agrees. Cassiopea gets worried when Cain refuses to take her aboard the Pegasus, so she goes to find Starbuck to find out what's going on. Apollo, Starbuck, Sheba, Bojay, and Boomer are on the mission to penetrate Gomoray and destroy the main command center, thus disabling the Cylon anti-assault weaponry. Cassiopea winds up going on the mission because they have no med-tech.
Once the team parachutes into Gamoray, they set explosive charges to the fuel dump. Bojay is wounded by a Cylon, and the others carry him to a safer area. Imperious Leader is on Gamoray to dedicate the new base. In the middle of his speech, there is an explosion as the fuel tanks erupt. Starbuck and Boomer destroy all the Cylons in the main command center and then blow it up. Cassiopea's medical attention saves Bojay's life, and Sheba gains a new respect for her. The Galactica launches its vipers, and they tear into Gamoray. The Cylons on the ground are completely helpless.
Baltar learns of the attack on Gamoray, and he launches all his fighters, now the equivalent of four Cylon basestars. Apollo ships all of the wounded to the Pegasus which is the closest battlestar. Despite being outnumbered four to one, Cain orders the Pegasus to head straight into the massive Cylon attack force.
The Pegasus quickly takes heavy damage, but doesn't stop to engage the Cylons. When Baltar learns of this, he suspects that the Pegasus is a decoy meant to lead the Cylons away from Gamoray. He orders his Cylon raiders to disengage and proceed to Gamoray. Sheba takes a hit from a Cylon and is badly injured, but Apollo helps her land on the Pegasus. Cain is shattered to see his daughter injured, and he keeps the Pegasus on a course toward Baltar's three Cylon basestars. Adama realizes that Cain has once again violated orders, and he tells Cain not to attack the Cylon basestars. Cain says he must since Baltar's cowardice will probably cause him to recall his forces. Baltar, as Cain predicted, orders Lucifer to recall the Cylon attack force when he learns that the Pegasus is heading straight for him.
All vipers and the wounded are transferred off the Pegasus before the battle. Starbuck and Apollo decide to go back and help the Pegasus. Baltar's basestar falls back, and the other two attack the Pegasus head on. Starbuck and Apollo fly their vipers and destroy the main guns of each basestar. The Pegasus fires his missiles and the two Cylon basestars are destroyed. Starbuck and Apollo are forced to retreat as the Cylon raiders are quickly closing in.
There is no contact from Cain on the Galactica. Sheba, who was taken away with the rest of the injured, is welcomed by Adama, Starbuck, and Apollo.
FIRE IN SPACE-Written by Jim Carlson and Terrence McDonnel-Original Airdate: December 17, 1978
An attack phalanx of Cylon raiders closes in on the Galactica. The vipers engage them, but the Cylons don't fight back. Two Cylon raiders break through the from the first wave and Starbuck and Apollo go after them. One raider attempts to ram into the Galactica bridge. It is destroyed, but not before its lasers do considerable damage to the bridge, and Adama is badly injured. The second Cylon raider rams into one of the landing bays. Because it is filled with explosive solenite, it does unbelievable damage, starting a fire that is out of control. Boomer, Athena, Boxey, Muffit and others are inside a recreation room and are trapped by the fire. Adama is in bad condition, and is taken to the medical ward.
One of the Galactica's two energizers is destroyed. If the fire reaches the second energizer, the Galacitca is doomed. Boomer manages to rig open one of the sealed compartments just as the fire breaks into the rec room, and everyone escapes inside, but there are no more rooms for them to escape to. Starbuck, Apollo, and Sheba attempt to put out the fire on the Galactica's landing deck by shooting it with boraton (similar to water) from their vipers. They fail to put the fire permanently out. Boomer sends Muffit through a small duct to get help, and he eventually reaches the Galactica bridge. Tigh and Omega attach a bag of life masks to him, and he takes them back to Boomer and the others. Time is running out, so Starbuck and Apollo set charges on the Galactica's hull. Once they go, off the vacuum of space will deprive the fire of oxygen and it will go out. After setting the charges, Apollo is cast off into space, and Starbuck jumps after him, grabbing ahold of him. Sheba, in her viper, is able to spot the two of them together. The charges go off, and the fire is put out. Adama makes it through surgery okay. Muffit manages to save the life of a fire fighter.
WAR OF THE GODS-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdates: January 14 and 21, 1979
Several colonial vipers are on patrol, including Bojay and Jolly. Suddenly, several whining bright lights flash by them. Then they are overtaken by a gigantic starship, the Ship of Lights. The whine from it is so loud it knocks them all unconscious. The ships simply disappear off of the Galactica's scanners without a trace.
Starbuck, Apollo, and Sheba land on a strange planet where they find a crashed starship. They are about to approach it when they are stopped by a man named Count Iblis. He acts strange, talking in ways that they don't understand. The white lights appear again, and Apollo, Sheba, and Starbuck are in agony from the whining sound they make, but Iblis is unaffected. He urges them to take him to the Galactica, which they do. On the Galactica, Iblis is soon left alone with Sheba and he exerts some kind of mind control to make her give him a tour of the ship. Adama and Apollo are immediately suspicious of Iblis, who remains vague about he is and where he is from. The white lights appear again, and another squadron dissapears while chasing them. Apollo is determined to get answers, and he order Iblis to report to Adama. Sheba, who has taken to Iblis, is upset. After she leaves, Iblis tells Apollo that if he ever threatens him again, he will kill him. Adama demands answers, but Iblis remains vague. He challenges Adama to prepare three tests, and he will fulfill them. After that, he will ask to be the leader of the fleet. One of the tests is to deliver Baltar.
The white lights appear outside a Cylon basestar, but the Cylons have no luck in tracking them. Baltar tells Lucifer to prepare a ship because he is going to meet with the Galactica. That night, Baltar is brought on board the Galactica, and the Council of Twelve sentences him to life on the prison barge. Later, on the prison barge, Baltar recognizes Count Iblis' voice - it is the voice of the Cylon Imperious Leader. The people of the fleet begin to see Iblis as some kind of god, and they ask him to give them more food. Iblis say he will, and the next day the crops on the agroship have exploded in size. Adama sends Apollo and Starbuck back to the planet to investigate the wreckage of the ship. When Iblis learns of Adama's plan, he is furious and disappears from the fleet. Sheba takes off in a viper and catches up with Starbuck and Apollo right after they see the bodies inside the wreckage. Sheba is about to look inside when Iblis appears. He demands that Sheba come to him, since she willingly followed his leadership. He attempts to strike Sheba down, but Apollo blocks his destructive bolt and is killed. Starbuck is furious when he realizes Apollo is dead and he tries to shoot Iblis, but to no avail. The white lights appear again, and Iblis disappears. Sheba is traumatized and ashamed that Apollo sacrificed his life to save hers.
While shuttling back towards the fleet, the Ship of Lights appears and Starbuck and Sheba black out. When they awaken, their uniforms are white and they are on board the ship. White robed beings appear before them, but they have no physical tangibility. They are shown Apollo's body. Moments later, Apollo awakens. They are told that Iblis did not have the right to take Apollo's life, thus they can restore him.
Later, on the Galactica, Apollo, Starbuck, and Sheba have no remembrance of what happened on the Ship of Lights. There is only one thing they can remember: the coordinates of the planet Earth!
THE MAN WITH NINE LIVES-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdate: January 28, 1979
A con-man named Chameleon is on his way to the Rising Star when he sees an interview with Starbuck on a fleet channel. Starbuck says he was orphaned in the Cylon attack on the city of Umbra and doesn't know his exact age. In the Rising Star's casino, Chameleon runs into Starbuck and prevents him from losing a lot of cubits. Chameleon tells Starbuck he lost his son in the Cylon raid on Umbra because he is hoping to escape three Borellian Nomen that are trying to kill him. Starbuck falls for it and shuttles him back to the Galactica for genetic tests to determine if they are father and son. Apollo is suspicious and orders a security check to be done on Chameleon. When Starbuck learns of this, he is angered and declares their friendship over. It turns out that there is no "Chameleon" in the fleet's computers.
The Nomen get aboard the Galactica and track down Starbuck and Chameleon in the launch bay. Chameleon hides inside the viper while Starbuck runs into the launch tube. The Nomen follow after him and Chameleon fires the viper's lasers. The Nomen survive, but are arrested. Cassiopea happily reveals to Chameleon that he is Starbuck's father, but he makes her promise not to tell him because, if she does, Starbuck will quit being a warrior to join up with him. He promises to tell Starbuck someday. Soon after, Chameleon apologizes to Starbuck.
MURDER ON THE RISING SUN-Written by Donald P. Bellisario, James Carlson, and Terrence McDonnell/Original Airdate: February 18, 1979
Starbuck and Ortega are thrown out of a triad game. Cassiopea separates them in the locker room as they are ready to fight each other. Minutes later, Ortega is gunned down, and Starbuck is seen running from the scene. Starbuck denies killing Ortega. Apollo believes him but says they need to run a check on Starbuck's laser, and it is revealed that the weapon was used to kill Ortega. Starbuck is arrested, and Apollo decides to be his protector (attorney). Ortega's patrol partner tells Apollo and Boomer that Ortega once said a man named Karibdis might try to kill him. The name is not in the fleet's computer, but Adama says that Karibdis was one of Baltar's conspirators believed to have been killed. Starbuck escapes from his cell and his about to launch away in his viper, but Apollo convinces him to give himself up.
Apollo and Boomer find three men linked to Ortega just as Starbuck's trial is about to begin, and he is sure one of them is the murderer. On the shuttle to the Galactica, Apollo tells them Starbuck has been exonerated and that, after he drops them off, he will immediately shuttle to the prison barge to get Baltar to identify Karibdis. After Boomer and the others leave, Apollo watches the weight monitor and it increases as someone comes aboard. Just as he suspects, the real Karibdis has snuck onto the shuttle and will try to kill him and Baltar. Boomer takes over as Starbuck's protector at the trial. Apollo shuttles to the prison barge, gets Baltar, and shuttles back towards the fleet. Karibdis comes out with a laser, and Boomer turns on a communicator at the trial so everyone hears him admit to killing Ortega. Baltar, realizing that Karibdis will kill him, clobbers him and Apollo disarms him. Starbuck goes free.
GREETINGS FROM EARTH-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdate: February 25, 1979
Starbuck and Apollo discover an unidentifiable starship moving through space and they tow it back to the Galactica. When the Colonials enter the ship, they find a man, a woman, and several children in suspended animation chambers. It quickly becomes clear that they can't revive the humans without risking damage to the instruments and possibly killing them. When the man, Michael, awakens, he soon collapses because the gravity on the Galactica is stronger than what he is used to. Apollo convinces Adama to let the ship go, and they do against the Council's orders. Starbuck, Apollo, and Cassiopea accompany the ship to find out where it is headed. A destroyer from the Eastern Alliance picks up the two vipers and can't identify them. Its commander, Leiter, orders them to set a course for the planet Paradeen because that is where they're headed.
On the planet, Sarah, Michael, and the children soon discover that Sarah's father is dead and the almost the entire population has been wiped out by the Eastern Alliance. Apollo wants to know the coordinates to Michael's home planet, Terra, because Terra is another word for Earth. Michael tells him he doesn't want to go anywhere near Terra for the Eastern Alliance rules over it and they would be destroyed. The instruments of Starbuck and Apollo's vipers are damaged beyond repair, and it is soon discovered that Sarah did it because she doesn't want Apollo to leave. Starbuck gets lost in the catacombs underneath the city while looking for records of Terra, and Apollo and the others have to search for him. The Eastern Alliance enforcers arrive and take Sarah hostage. Apollo and Starbuck manage to capture the Alliance Enforcers and take them and their destroyer back to the Galactica. Leiter is stunned when he sees the massive battlestar.
BALTAR'S ESCAPE-Written by Donald P. Bellisario/Original Airdate: March 11, 1979
Adama interviews Leiter aboard the prison barge and realizes just how tyrannical the Eastern Alliance is, but the Council of Twelve wants to release them and send a peace envoy back with them to Terra. Baltar approaches the Borellian Nomen and says he can help them in their plight to escape from the prison barge. The Council informs Adama they are revoking the martial law that was declared after the Holocaust and are reinstituting Council control of the fleet. Council member Siress Tinia will be his new aide. As the Alliance enforcers are about to be transferred to the Galactica, the Borellian Nomen take out the guards and free Baltar. With the Enforcers, they hijack Sheba and Boomer's shuttle and travel to the Galactica. Siress Tinia refuses to allow Colonial warriors in the landing bay when the Enforcers arrive. When the shuttle lands, the entire Council is taken hostage. Tigh warns Starbuck and Apollo that trouble may be up, and they head towards the landing bay just in time to stop Baltar and the Nomen from reaching the Galactica bridge.
Back on the shuttle, Baltar demands that Adama release the Enforcer's destroyer and his own Cylon raider. Explosives are attached to the shuttle. Baltar says he will make the shuttle with the hostages launch, and if anyone follows them, he will use a remote control device to blow it up. Not believing that Baltar will let the hostages live, Adama and Tinia decide they must attack the landing bay when Baltar and the others are transferring to their ships.
Dr. Wilker had dismantled the two Cylon pilots and needs more time to put them back together. To get the necessary time, Adama agrees to be taken as a hostage. Tinia goes with him. The Cylon pilots destroy any equipment they touch, and it is clear they won't be able to fly. This gives Apollo an idea and he tells Tigh to call off the attack on the landing bay. The Enforcers and the Nomen take off in the destroyer. When Baltar orders his Cylons to launch, one of the pilots crushes the scanner. Starbuck and Apollo rush into the shuttle and grab Baltar's detonation device before he has a chance to set it off. The hostages are saved.
EXPERIMENT IN TERRA-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdate: March 18, 1979
Colonial vipers are tracking the escaped Eastern Alliance Destroyer back to Terra. Apollo is suddenly captured by the Ship of Lights. On board, his uniform is white again and he meets John, who says there is a mission for him. He must help stop a war that will destroy the planet of Terra. To assist him, Apollo will be given the identity of a citizen on Terra named Charlie Watts, a soldier who is currently a prisoner on Lunar 7. Apollo finds himself back in his viper, his uniform still white, right in front of the planet Terra. Starbuck and Boomer see his ship on their scanners and have no idea how he could have gotten so far ahead of them so fast.
Apollo lands on Terra in a desert outside a large city and is picked up by Brenda Maxwell, Charlie's boyfriend. She is angry with him for not contacting her sooner and also frustrated by the strange way he acts. Afraid he is not well, she calls the authorities who have him arrested.
President Arends is confused as to how Charlie Watts could be on Terra. He doesn't want news of the Eastern Alliance attacks on their satellites to leak out for it would probably erupt in full scale war, and he believes he is about to sign a peace treaty with them. Starbuck lands on Terra next to Apollo's viper and eventually finds his way to the city. The Galactica picks up his distress signal and Adama takes the ship full speed away from the fleet towards Terra. Brenda and her father, General Maxwell, are soon arrested and put in jail with Apollo, who manages to convince them that he is not Charlie Watts. Starbuck encounters John who tells him where Apollo is being held. He breaks into the building and frees Apollo and the others. John then warns them that the Eastern Alliance is about to launch a full scale missile attack on the West. Apollo and Maxwell try to stall the peace conference while Starbuck takes off in his viper to get help from the Galactica. The Galactica uses its firepower to destroy all of the Eastern Alliance missiles. The Eastern Alliance, believing the West has a shield capable of deflecting their missiles, quickly sues for peace. Apollo says farewell to John.
TAKE THE CELESTRA-Written by James Carlson and Terrence McDonnell/Original Airdate: April 1, 1979
Commander Kronus of the Celestra and a few other ships receives honors at a Colonial award ceremony. In the crowd, Starbuck recognizes a woman named Aurora who he had a relationship with before the Holocaust. He had believed her dead. When she sees him, she walks off. Starbuck catches up to her and she is cold to him. He tells her he found her house destroyed on Caprica. Chakka, Kronus' second-in-command, expects to take over the Celestra, but Kronus informs him it will not happen.
Starbuck skips a date with Cassiopea and convinces Apollo to go with him on a routine maintenance check to the Celestra so he can see Aurora. When they land on the Celestra, they find a mutiny going on. They manage to capture the mutinees, and Aurora is one of them. The Celestra has engine problems and is temporarily left behind the rest of the fleet. Kronus orders the prisoners to be immediately shuttled back to the Galactica by Starbuck and Apollo and he accompanies them.
Chakka, wanting to take command of the Celestra, starts a mutiny of his own and has the wrong coordinates programmed into the shuttle so it will be lost in space. After the shuttle is far enough away, he has the Celestra's power go dark so the shuttle won't be able to find its way back. Kronus learns from the prisoners how harsh a work captain Chakka has been. Starbuck and Apollo realize they're off course, and with the help of the prisoners, they find their way back to the darkened Celestra, whose crew is unaware of their landing. Starbuck, Apollo and the others storm the bridge, and in the shootout the Celestra flies out of control. Kronus manages to put it pack on course, but he has a heart attack and dies. Chakka and the others are captured. Starbuck makes amends with Aurora and later Cassiopea.
HAND OF GOD-Written by Donald P. Bellisario/Original Airdate: April 29, 1979
Apollo takes Starbuck, Sheba, and Cassiopea to an old celestial observatory dome which has a magnificent view of space. Apollo says being in it is like "riding in the hand of God." The computer picks up a transmission on an outdated gamma frequency of an old starship on a moon. It could be hundreds or thousands of years old. Apollo speculates it could be from Earth.
On patrol, Apollo, Starbuck, and Sheba encounter a Cylon basestar, but get away before they are seen. Adama believes the transmission is a lure by the Cylons to get the fleet to enter that area of space. Rather than reverse course, he decides to attack the basestar. Apollo soon comes up with a plan for him and Starbuck to fly Baltar's captured Cylon raider to the basestar to blow up its central scanners so the Galactica will be able to get in the first shot. They don't know how to reach the central command station, so Adama offers Baltar freedom on an isolated planet in exchange for information. Boomer gives Apollo and Starbuck a homing device which will enable the vipers to tell them apart from the other Cylons. Starbuck says if they lose the device, they'll just waggle their wings.
As Apollo and Starbuck prepare their ship for the battle, Sheba confronts Apollo. She accuses him of having a death wish and kisses him, revealing her true feelings. Cassiopea gets into an argument with Starbuck, afraid he won't come back. She makes him promise that he will.
Apollo and Starbuck take off and land successfully on the basestar. The Cylons pick up Colonial vipers and launch their raiders. The vipers draw ther raiders away so the Galactica can attack. Starbuck and Apollo reach the scanner hall next to the command post and set charges when a Cylon enters. They blast it and quickly leave, but Starbuck drops the homing device. Moments later, the charges explode and the basestar is blinded. The Galactica approaches and gets in the first shot. After slugging it out, the Cylon basestar is destroyed.
Back on the Galactica, everyone is worried that Starbuck and Apollo have not returned. A Cylon raider approaches, but no signal is picked up. The raider is about to be destroyed when Boomer tells them to wait. The Cylon raider is waggling! Starbuck and Apollo land the ship.
That evening, Starbuck finds Apollo in the Celestial observatory dome. The tapes of the transmission were destroyed in the battle, and Apollo hopes to pick it up again. Starbuck convinces him to go to the victory party, and as Apollo leaves he accidently hits a switch on the console. Moments later, a transmission appears. It is a transmission of the Apollo 11 moon landing!

GALACTICA 1980
GALACTICA DISCOVERS EARTH-Written by Glen A. Larson/Three Hour Pilot. Original Airdates: Jan. 27, Feb. 3 and 10, 1980
Part One
The Battlestar Galactica and her fleet of 220 ships approach Earth. Commander Adama is informed by Dr. Zee, a child with extraordinary intelligence, that the Cylons have been following them, waiting for them to find Earth so they (the Cylons) can destroy it and wipe out humanity. Zee also reveals that Earth is far too primitive to stand against the might of the Cylon forces. A meeting in a war room is held. A screen shows a simulation of Cylon fighters destroying Los Angeles. Dr. Zee announces that the Galactica will travel past Earth to lead the Cylons away. In the meantime, the Colonials will work to slowly, secretly raise the level of Earth's technology. Lt. Troy and Lt. Dillon are among those selected to go to Earth. Troy is Boxey, Adama's grandson and Apollo's son.
Troy and Dillon fly in their vipers to Earth and are picked up by radar. U.S. air force planes attempt to shoot them down, but the vipers use their invisibility fields to disappear. They land in California and are on their way to see Dr. Mortinson at the Pacific Institute of Technology. Troy and Dillon get on their motorcycles and drive onto the highway, but their futuristic bikes stand out and attract the attention of a group of bikers. The two warriors escape by activating the installed turbos and the bikes fly into the air.
The two try to use a phone booth, but don't know how. They meet Jamie Hamilton, who is looking to get a TV news reporter job. She gives them a ride to the Institute.
Troy and Dillon try to see Dr. Mortinson to give him a formula for clean nuclear power, and temporarily stun a guard in order to get inside. They leave part of the formula on his computer and tell the secretary they can be contacted through Jamie Hamilton at United Broadcasting. They attempt to escape, but are arrested by police. Dr. Mortinson sees the formula and is shocked, realizing that the people who left it could not be from Earth. Later, at United Broadcasting, Jamie is about to have her job interview, when she gets a call from Troy and Dillon, who she saw get arrested on the news. She hangs up, and then gets a call from Dr. Mortinson. He tells Jamie he wants to meet with her. Mr. Brooks, head of the station, has been looking to get an interview with Mortinson, so he offers Jamie the job if she'll meet with him. She agrees.
Troy and Dillon escape from jail using their invisibility fields and intercept Jamie on her way to interview Dr. Mortinson outside the police station. The three greet the doctor and get into his car. Mr. Brooks is filming everything from a news van and follows them. Dillon trys driving the car and his erratic driving causes several police cars to pursue them. Elsewhere, a young boy named Willie Griffin finds the two Colonial Vipers and runs off to tell his dad.
Part Two
Willie tells his dad their are spaceships nearby. Meanwhile, Dr. Xaviar, a member of the Council of the Twelve, tries to convince Adama to use their newly developed time-warping capabilities to introduce technology in Earth's distant past, in the hope that Earth will become more technologially advanced in the present. Adama refuses to support him, siding with Dr. Zee.
Dillon crashes Dr. Mortinson's car into a store window and, using their invisibility fields, they escape with Jamie. On the Galactica, Adama and Dr. Zee are shocked to learn that Xaviar has stolen time travel equipment and traveled to 1944 Germany. They recall Troy and Dillon to the Galactica. Jamies threatens to tell the authorities everything she knows if they don't take her with them, so they give in. Jamie is shocked to find herself flown into outer space, and then taken onboard the massive Galactica. Adama explains their predicament, and Jamie offers to help because she knows more about Earth's history than they do.
Troy, Dillon, and Jamie travel into the past and find themselves flying over 1944 Germany. German planes attempt to shoot them down, but stop when they see the vipers, believing them to be Germany's experimental aircraft. Xaviar has aligned himself with the Nazis and working to build a new kind of rocket. After the trio land, an American plane is shot down and its American pilot, Major Stockwell, parachutes out and lands nearby. Despite Troy and Dillon's urgings, Jamie runs to save him from the oncoming Nazis. Stockwell refuses their assistance, not trusting them. He is caught by the Nazis, but the Galacticans rescue him, so he reluctantly joins up with them. Eventually, the four steal Nazi uniforms and penetrate the military base where Xaviar is.
Part Three
Troy and Jamie enter the bunker and confront Xaviar, but he refuses to surrender. The rocket launches, but Dillon destroys it. Xaviar is taken by the trio to their vipers. That night, they free the Jews on their way to concentration camps. As they prepare to leave, Xaviar activates his invisibility field and escapes. Unable to find him, they head back to 1980.
The trio go back to California. Later, Willie once again finds the Vipers. He calls the police, and Troy and Dillon arrive only to find the military confiscating their ships. The duo find Willie and persuade him to tell them where their vipers were taken. They find out their vipers, along with Xaviar's ship, are at a nearby air force base. Meanwhile, Xaviar locates Dr. Mortinson and tries to get his help in conquering Earth's past. Mortinson refuses, so Xaviar stuns him.
Troy and Dillon find Jamie and go to the base just as Xaviar steals his viper and escapes. Troy and Dillon stun the MPs, get in their vipers, and chase Xaviar into space. They attempt to destroy him, but he time-warps away. They return to the Galactica and Adama asks Jamie to assist Troy and Dillon on their next mission: finding Xaviar in 18th century America.
THE SUPER SCOUTS-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdates: Mar. 16 and 23, 1980
Troy and Dillon are aboard the Gemini freighter, a school ship, teaching a science class to children when suddenly the ship comes to a stop. Moments later, a squadron of Cylon fighters attacks the ship. Boomer leads a viper squadron to fight them off. Dillon and Troy load 136 children into shuttles and evacuate before the ship explodes. Troy and Dillon's shuttle is damaged so they have to land on Earth. The shuttle is picked up on radar and Colonel Sydell assembles a team to investigate the UFO landing. To prevent discovery, Troy and Dillon launch the shuttle into outer space. The children find that they have greater strength due to Earth's weaker gravity.
Troy and Dillon ride their turbocycles to get Earth clothing for them. Troy goes to a department store and Dillon goes to a bank. The teller doesn't believe his cubits are real gold, and she gets suspicious. Dillon panics and pulls a laser gun on her, and she hands him a bag of money without him even asking. He runs to the department store and gives the money to the sales lady for the scout supplies. They turn invisible and escape from police. Later, Jamie, Mr. Brooks, and the air force arrive to investigate the UFO landing and only find the scouts.
That night, Moonstone, Starla, and Jason become horribly ill. Troy, Dillon, and Jamie take them to a hospital for treatment. In the morning, they discover that the children drank water fom a polluted lake owned by the Stanford Chemical Plant. They go to see Mr. Stockton, the plant manager, and he promises to look into the situation. Once they leave, he calls the sheriff and tells him to run the scouts out of the area. The sheriff does a check on Troy and Dillon and discovers they are suspected of bank robbery. The police investigate the camp, but Troy, Dillon and the scouts turn invisible and hide in the trees. At the hospital, Dr. Spencer realizes the children are not human. Jamie convinces him to investigate the polluted lake.
Mr. Stockton shows up and escorts, Dr. Spencer, Jamie, Troy and Dillon to the police to lodge a complaint against them. Before they get there, the hospital nurse radios Spencer, saying that the children are on the verge of death. They rush to the hospital and take the children away. Dillon calls the Galactica and requests a rescue ship be sent at once. Dr. Zee, Adama, and a medical team pilot Dr. Zee's new anti-gravity ship to Earth. The children are taken inside, as is Mr. Stockton. Dr. Zee shows Mr. Stockton a simulation of what will happen to the environment ten years later if changes are not made. Stockton discovers that his son will be dead. He swears to do whatever it takes to prevent it. The children are healed and the spaceship takes off just as Colonel Sydell and the sheriff arrive on the scene.
SPACE BALL-Written by Glen A. Larson, Frank Lupo and Jeff Freilich/Original Airdate: Mar. 30, 1980
Troy and Dillon meet Lt. Nash in a meadow. He tells them they have been assigned to a mission to find the evil Dr. Xaviar. The duo take Nash's viper and go into orbit. Meanwhile, Col. Sydell becomes convinced that Jamie Hamilton is the key to solving the UFO mystery.
Jamie is giving the Super Scouts a tour of the United Broadcasting Company. When she leaves them alone, they dismantle an $80,000 camera, but then quickly put it back together when they are caught. Jamie is assigned to do a story about a boys' home for underprivileged kids that is in danger of going out of business.
Out in space, Troy and Dillon realize they have fallen into a trap as their viper runs low on power, stranding them in space. They contact the Galactica and Adama tells them he doesn't know about any mission. They realize Xaviar must have altered his appearance to look like Lt. Nash and rigged the ship. They lose communication with the Galactica and only have 24 hours left of oxygen.
On Earth, Jamie and the scouts arrive at the boy's camp and find out that it is a baseball camp. Col. Sydell finds out from Mr. Brooks that Jamie is at the camp with scouts and he rushes over there. Xaviar (in the appearance of Lt. Nash) comes to the camp and tells Jamie he is friends with Troy and Dillon.
The camp owner, Billy Ayer, gets bad news that his baseball team has the flu. If they don't play and win the regional play-offs, the camp will go bankrupt. Jamie offers to let the scouts play the game, knowing they can't lose with their superior skills. Xaviar contacts the Galactica and tells Adama he wants freedom on Earth or he will kill Troy, Dillon, and the scouts.
Col. Sydell arrives as the game is about to begin. Jamie realizes he can't be allowed to see their super powers, so she tells the scouts to lose. Late in the game, she hears Nash communicating with Adama, who refuses his demands, and realizes he must be Xaviar. When she confronts him, he threatens to kill her and the children. Knowing that reporters will surround the winning team, she orders the scouts to win, which they easily do using their super powers. Xaviar realizes he has been outsmarted and he grabs Jamie and heads off. Troy and Dillon arrive, having repaired their viper, and go after them. After a chase through a school gym, Xaviar gets away, Col. Sydell is stunned by his laser, and Troy and Dillon manage to rescue Jamie.
THE NIGHT THE CYLONS LANDED-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdates: April 13 and 20, 1980
A viper patrol, Recon Probe Delta, is ambushed by an incredibly larger, more powerful Cylon raider. They can't outfight it, so they ram their viper into it, disabling both craft. The Cylon ship drifts towards Earth. On the Galactica, Adama and Dr. Zee believe the Cylon raider is Recon Probe Delta and realize it will plummet to Earth and land in New York City. They contact Troy and Dillon and tell them to recover the craft. Jamie convinces them to take a regular airliner to New York to avoid being detected in their vipers. On the flight, they manage to foil a hijacking attempt.
Meanwhile, Recon Probe Delta is recovered and Adama and Dr. Zee realize the craft falling to Earth is Cylon. Inside the Cylon raider, two humanoid Cylons and three Cylon Centurions monitor the planet's transmissions and realize they have discovered Earth. The Cylon raider crashes and only Andromus (a humanoid Cylon) and Centuri (a Centurion) survive. They set the self-destruct sequence and leave to find a way to contact the Cylon forces. Their ship explodes as Troy and Dillon arrive on the scene. The two Cylons are picked up by Norman and Shirley, a couple on their way to a Halloween party. Troy and Dillon escape from police who think they have something to do with what's going on. Troy and Dillon use their languatrons to home in on the Cylons.
At the party, Andromus talks to Wolfman Jack, who he learns works at a radio station with enough power to contact the Cylons. Elsewhere, Troy and Dillon are pursued by many police cars and escape by driving their car off a dock and into the ocean.
Centuri's sensors are almost shut down by a microwave oven, so Andromus destroys it, starting a fire that quickly spreads. Everyone rushed out, except for a young boy who is trapped. Troy and Dillon arrive and rescue the boy, but the Cylons have escaped. The Cylons take Wolfman Jack to the radio station and force him to cooperate. The three go up on the roof and direct an antenna towards the Cylon starfleet. Troy and Dillon reach the roof and destroy the Cylons and stop the signal from transmitting just in time.
SO THIS IS NEW YORK-
SPACE CROPPERS-Written by Robert L. McCullough/Original Airdate: April 27, 1980
The Imperious Leader orders an attack on the fleet. He wants to destroy the agroships. If the fleet's food supply is cut off, he believes it will force the Galactica to lead the Cylons to Earth. Two agroships are destroyed in the attack and Adama and Dr. Zee decide it's time to establish an earth colony.
Troy and Dillon go to Southern California and find the farm of the Alonzo family. Hector Alonzo tells them his crops are dying because all of the water in the area is controlled by the wealthy John Steadman who has damned up the part of the river that runs through his property. Troy and Dillon visit the Steadman ranch, but he refuses to unblock the river. Steadman offers them $1,000 if they can ride one of his wild horses, and they are able to use their technology to calm the horse down and win the money.
Troy, Dillon, Jamie, and the Super Scouts arrive back at the farm that night and plant the seeds using their super powers, unaware that Steadman is watching. Steadman calls an emergency meeting of the Grower's Association and tells them that aliens are on the Alonzos' farm. He is disgraced by his allegations, and the Association orders him to unblock the river so water can get to the Alonzos' crops. The Super Scouts stay with the Alonzos, and Troy and Dillon mount their turbocycles and fly off to new adventures.
THE RETURN OF STARBUCK-Written by Glen A. Larson/Original Airdate: May 4, 1980
On the Galactica, Dr. Zee tells Adama he has had a dream of a great warrior named Starbuck. Adama, recognizing the name, asks Zee to tell him his dream. Zee begins to speak: Starbuck and Boomer are in a battle with Cylon raiders. Starbuck is hit and can't make it back to the Galactica. One surviving raider is damaged and is going to crash. Boomer sadly has to leave Starbuck behind to warn the fleet to stay away from that area. Starbuck flies to a planet and ejects from his ship moments before it crashes. The Galactica is under heavy attack from Cylon forces. On the bridge, Boomer implores Adama to go back for Starbuck. Adama painfully tells him they can't afford to go back with the Cylons all over them.
Starbuck sets off to have a look at the planet. He is in a rocky, desolate area with no food or other sign of life. He calls it the planet Starbuck. Soon, he discovers a crashed Cylon raider from the space battle. The Cylons are all dead. He uses parts of their ship to set up a shelter in a cave. After a few days, he decides to rebuild one of the Cylons for companionship. He succeeds in restoring the Cylon, but the Cylon tries to kill him. Starbuck shows the Cylon that he can deactivate his circuits any time he chooses, so the Cylon agrees to a truce. Starbuck calls the Cylon "Cy."
After a few days of card games with his new mechanical companion, Starbuck gets bored and hopes for human companionship, so Cy goes out and, the next morning, returns with a very pregnant woman. She doesn't speak for a week, and Starbuck tells her his life story, including the way he was a womanizer. When she finally does speak, she asks, "Starbuck, would you die for me?" Starbuck is shocked and angry that she didn't speak to him for so long. Her name is Angela. She is vague about her origins. She tells him that the homing beacon on the Cylon raider was activated for awhile and so other Cylons will soon come, therefore they must build another ship. Starbuck and Cy manage to build a ship that is half-Colonial and half-Cylon. Then Angela has the baby. She tells Starbuck that the baby is his spiritual son. She also says that she knows he is ready to make a change, to give up his selfish ways. Finally, Angels says that he must prepare for Judgment Day, the day of reckoning.
The next day, a Cylon raider lands and three Cylons come toward them. Starbuck puts Angela and the baby in the craft and launches it, knowing that without him the life support will last twice as long. Starbuck then finds himself trapped, but Cy joins with him. Cy destroys two of the Centurions, but the third shoots him. Starbuck blasts the last one, and runs to Cy, but it's too late. Cy dies in his arms. Angela stands on a cliff nearby and says, "I judge this mortal to be good. So very good."
The small ship eventually finds its way to the Galactica, where a small child is found on board. That child is Dr. Zee. Adama tells him that his dream was real.
